Information & Assistance

Professionally trained and caring Information and Assistance (I & A) Specialists are available at each of our offices to confidentially answer questions and provide information, assistance or referral to local, state and federal services and benefits available to older adults aged 60+, individuals with disabilities, and caregivers. Our goal is to help seniors live in their home with dignity, as long as safely manageable, and to enjoy the best quality of life possible.

Assessment and Care Coordination

If you are searching for services that will help you or a loved one remain in their homes, we are here for you. The Illinois Department on Aging’s Community Care Program (CCP) is designed to assist seniors to remain living independently in their own home as long as safely manageable. CCP services includes Homemaker Services, Adult Day Services, and Emergency Home Response Service. Our agency can provide additional services to improve the senior’s quality of life including: Home Delivered Meals, Friendly Visiting, Transportation, and we can assist the senior in applying for prescription assistance programs, Property Tax Exemptions and more.

Caregiver Assistance

If you are a family member, a friend or neighbor of someone who depends on you to help them with their day-to-day activities, then you are a caregiver. Caregivers can be caring for someone in their home, across the street, on the other side of town or clear across the country. Not one day goes by that they aren’t worrying in some way about the person who depends on them. Caregivers not only spend a great deal of time caring for an elderly loved one or grandchildren, they also must find time and energy to care for their own families and themselves.

Adult Protective Services

Senior Services Associates investigates allegations of physical and emotional abuse, financial exploitation, confinement, sexual abuse, passive neglect, and willful deprivation. As the Adult Protective Services Provider Agency of the Northeastern Illinois Area Agency on Aging and the State of Illinois Adult Protective Services Unit, our certified case manager investigators are here to represent and protect seniors and persons with disabilities while working with local authorities to eliminate the abusive situation and sustain quality of life.

Emergency Services & Home Repair

No one plans to have a crisis. We don’t schedule lightning hitting our homes, heart attacks, abuse, or mechanical breakdowns of our cars or home appliances. For the fortunate in our society, they have steady incomes, some savings, and a family who rallies to their support during hard times.

Friendly Visiting

Our Friendly Visiting Program connects eligible seniors over 60 years old who live in Kane, Kendall and McHenry Counties with carefully screened volunteers who want to make a difference in the life of a senior. Since 1996, this program has been making friendship matches, successfully connecting volunteers with hundreds seniors in need of extra companionship.

Transportation Services

Many of our communities’ older adults are unable to access transportation for several reasons. Some can no longer drive safely. Others can no longer afford to maintain a car and pay for insurance. Sometimes the person is temporarily unable to drive due to surgery or illness. Whatever the reason, losing the ability to drive becomes a barrier to receiving vital services such as going to doctors and shopping for medicines and food. Day to day activities normally managed on their own, like going to a doctor or grocery shopping, all become impossible. This leads to isolation, depression and an overall decline in health and quality of life.

We are determined to eliminate the barriers that keep seniors and disabled people from accessing reliable, affordable transportation in order for them to receive crucial services and having some measure of independence and dignity.

Volunteer Services

Senior Services Associates, our clients, their families and our communities all benefit from the generosity of our volunteers. Our agency has a variety of programs that offer meaningful volunteer opportunities to individuals of all ages, in Kane, Kendall and McHenry Counties. If you have time available to help, there are always more needs than available volunteers.
