Food Collection boxes will be located in all of our senior centers located in Aurora, Crystal Lake, Elgin, McHenry and Yorkville beginning with Martin Luther King Jr. Day, January 15th and continuing through Super Bowl Sunday, February 4th. Suggested donations include, canned & boxed meals, dry cereal & oatmeal, canned soup, canned chili, canned meats or tuna, canned tomatoes and sauce, canned vegetables, peanut butter & jelly, also gift cards or cash. Non-food items are also offered to clients; bath soap (bars), shampoo, deodorant, toothbrushes & toothpaste, dish & laundry detergent, baby diapers and wipes and feminine hygiene products. Donated items collected will be delivered to our partnering food pantries in several communities across McHenry, Kane and Kendall Counties. Participating in Souper Bowl of Caring is a great way for all our senior participants and community members to contribute in this important work of offering food for those in need. The Retired & Senior Volunteer Program and their members appreciate the close relationships built with the food pantries recognizing that many seniors are in need of the pantry services, and they are glad to be able to contribute to the pantry in any way they can.
