MARENGO – female senior – lives alone – 80 years old

Female senior living in own home in rural area. Originally from Elgin, she worked as a receptionist. She plays cards and Pinnacle, possibly interested in scrapbooking. Home is clean, no pets in home, doesn’t smoke, prefers female visitor, early afternoon visits preferred. Senior uses cane, is mobile.

CRYSTAL LAKE – female senior – (lives with daughter) – 68 years old

Senior living with her daughter. She is paralyzed and is wheelchair bound. She is spiritual and enjoys talking about church related topics, prophecies, prayer and hope. She would enjoy someone who could uplift her and share a similar religious outlook. She likes cards and games, learning to use Facebook, crossword puzzles and is open to learning and teaching new ones. She enjoys reading, coloring books and crafting, self-help books, and trying to be healthy. She would prefer a female companion on Wednesday mornings. She has a cat, doesn’t smoke, and would like a chatty companion. Visits would take place in the home only.

CRYSTAL LAKE – male senior – lives alone – 95 years old

Senior has been in the area over 60 years. He has three children and had his own insurance agency. He does all his own cleaning and cooking and keeps his home immaculate! He was an only child. He is looking for someone to come sit and chat and share life experiences once a week. He traveled in his earlier years and loves to share life experiences. He is a veteran and listens to books on tape. He enjoys romance and history reads. Visits would take place within the home. He has no pets and is a non-smoker. His home is clean and tidy. He prefers a female visitor on Friday afternoons. He is a bit hard of hearing.

CRYSTAL LAKE – male senior – lives with family – 75 years old

Senior man lives with his son and family in Crystal Lake. Born in Chicago, he lived in Madison and built two houses there. He worked as a carpenter by trade and had three sons. He is an outdoorsy guy and loves getting or going to Country Donuts. He likes to play Pinnacle, Poker, and other card games. He will go to the library to look up things as needed and would like to learn the computer. Perhaps you can teach him a little bit? He would enjoy walking around at Three Oaks Rec Center, going to Menards, Ace Hardware, and going out to eat sometimes. He prefers visits on a Wednesday afternoon. He is mobile, conversational, eager to have a companion and uses a cane pretty much only in the morning to get around. He has had a stroke. Their family has 2 cats and a guinea pig. It is a non-smoking home.

CRYSTAL LAKE – female senior – lives alone – 81 years old

Senior was born and raised on the Southwest side of Chicago and cared for her parents until they passed. She was never married and has no children. She worked 47 years for Sears. She only drives short distances if need be. She loves to knit and go to resale and antique stores to look around. She is computer literate and texts on her phone, too! She loves card games and likes Monopoly and Scrabble. She likes going to eat a meal out with a friend and considers herself a people person. She would enjoy getting out of the house or going for a drive. She prefers afternoon visits, has no pets in her home.

CRYSTAL LAKE – female senior – lives alone – 61 years old

Senior is is mother of three boys and was a stay at home mom. She doesn’t drive and sees family on occasion if they come over. She doesn’t know anyone in the area. She enjoys playing bingo, would be interested in going to senior center activities, see a movie, go out for a meal when she can afford it, go to resale shops and antique stores, going for a walk and overall getting out of the house. She is currently stuck at home most of the day and watches TV. She gets depressed. She prefers afternoon or early evening visits.

WOODSTOCK – female senior – (lives with family) – 90 years old

Senior worked as a switchboard operator in a hospital. She has three children. She lived on a farm when she was younger and had a total of 16 children in the family – she was #13! She would enjoy talking, looking at pictures, sitting outside to chat, sharing life experiences, being read the newspaper to her, scenic drives, possibly attending local senior center activities, enjoys talk shows and likes bingo. She prefers a female visitor, younger or older is OK with her. At the time of the interview, Tuesdays were the best days for someone to visit. She loves cats but there are no pets in the home and no smoking. Her house is tidy.

McHENRY – (Home with son who works) – female senior – 98 years old

Senior is originally from Skokie and her and her husband owned a bakery. She had 2 sons, one she lives with and one passed away. She has no grandchildren and was married 64 years. She prefers afternoon visits and best when son works Thursday-Sunday in afternoon. She was a musical person in her younger years and played guitar, sang and danced. She may play simple card games but would need to be shown how. Indoor visits only as she gets around with a cane but not well outside home. She used to play soccer as a youth. She watches a bit of baseball. She prefers a female companion. Her home has no smoke odor and relatively tidy. They have one large dog that is friendly but intimidating looking. Senior is a bit hard of hearing. She really just wants someone to sit and talk for a bit with her when son is gone.

McHENRY – female senior – (lives with daughter) – 79 years old

Senior had two children and lives with one of them. She likes puzzles, word searches, likes to read on the Kindle, enjoys going out to eat, going for a drive and going to Walmart. Delores has short term memory loss and would need a companion to be conversational. She uses a cane and can transfer in and out of a vehicle, also uses a walker. Cannot get into SUVs. They have a very large, friendly dog and there is no smoking in the home. Daughter works first 2 Wednesdays of the month so that is when she prefers a companion to come by.

SPRING GROVE – (Home with daughter) – male senior – 82 years old

Senior has been around the Marengo area since 1958. He was born and raised on farms. He drove trucks for some 50 years locally and across country. He is a veteran and now lives with his daughter in Spring Grove. He has always enjoyed doing puzzles, is a Bears fan, likes John Deere machinery, enjoys watching the History Channel. He likes War and History related programs and subjects. He is in a wheelchair. He would enjoy a female companion to come and visit while his daughter works. Senior has had companions before that transitioned into long-term friendships. New home has not been entered by Coordinator so environment is unknown at this time.

HUNTLEY – male senior – (Lives alone in Apartment) – 64 years old

Senior is developmentally delayed and lives independently. He likes movies and has library movies delivered to his home. He would play card games like 500 rummy. He gets around in his wheelchair and will go to local stores. He would enjoy going to the movie theatre, library or sit outside, but being in wheelchair local or in home activities are best. Perhaps writing cards and letters together would be a fun activity. He is also an Elvis fan! He prefers earlier afternoon and a male or female visitor is acceptable. There are no pets or smoking in his apartment. Senior cannot transfer himself in and out of a vehicle, but uses it (it is powered) to go to local stores and such.

Kane County Seniors

ELGIN – female senior – (lives alone) – 82 years old

Senior lives in Elgin. She lives alone in her own house with a friendly little dog, Maggie. She has 3 children, and her daughter comes to assist with needs based things on the weekends. She was a nurse’s aide and a lunch lady. She is interested in getting out of her house. She is open to going to the senior center together for activities/parties/etc. She loves going out to lunch or for a meal, would go to see a movie together and is open to activities outside the home. She used to paint ceramics She enjoys television shows focusing on house building and pawn shops. Early afternoon visits work, but she is flexible. Senior is a non-smoker with a tidy home and clean dog.

CARPENTERSVILLE – female senior – (Home with daughter and Son in law) – 75 years old

Senior is from Germany and was married over 50 years and she now lives with her daughter. She no longer drives and is anxious for company. She worked for an HR department and as an assistant manager. She is also fluent in German. She may enjoy getting out of the house. She can knit and crochet, do word searches, mentioned getting out for a meal together or perhaps go to the local senior center. She is open to a man or woman to visit and feels mornings are better for visits. There is one cat in the home and senior and family are smokers. Home is tidy.

CARPENTERSVILLE – female senior – (lives alone) – 84 years old

Senior has five children, two of which are local. She was a nurse and teacher and also was a rehab counselor for an insurance company. She is an avid reader and was a girl scout leader. She likes history. She is computer savvy and very chatty. She enjoys coloring and listening to music. She also likes Rummy, playing cards, going out to lunch and would enjoy a symphony or musical production. She only would like a female visitor and prefers the afternoon for visits. She has no pets and doesn’t smoke.

CARPENTERSVILLE – female senior – (lives with daughter) – 86 years old

Senior lives with her daughter who works so she is home alone a lot. She speaks Italian fluently and was married over 40 years. Senior worked for Motorola and is newer to the area. She would enjoy chatting, taking a ride to the mall, loves going out to eat or for coffee, playing cards, going to the senior center together, likes classic movies at home and LOVES bingo. Loves all card games. She prefers a female visitor and an afternoon visit. A weekend visit may be ok, too, just not Sundays. There are currently no animals in the home and no smoking.

CARPENTERSVILLE – female senior – (Lives with Son) – 63 years old

Senior lives with her son who works a lot so she is home alone a lot. She has done charity work for a handful of agencies and was a case worker for 10 years. She doesn’t drive and lives in an area where public transportation is not readily available. She would enjoy going to church in Carpentersville, she paints by number, loves crafts, knits, crochets, embroiders, sews, shopping at the local GoodWill, collects various items, plays computer games and more! She is artsy and has a colorful personality. She wants to get out and do things with her companion. She would enjoy taking different classes, perhaps at ECC. She is also writing a book. She enjoys music and dancing. She would like to have a companion age 50 or older to relate to. A male or female is acceptable. She would like a visitor on Tuesday, Friday or the weekend. There is one terrier dog in the home. Her son has a caged lizard. There is no smoking inside the home and the Coordinator did not notice any smoke odor. Home is slightly cluttered but clean.
